The SW update is irrelevant. I get D&T for all my kindles, though I mostly use the PW3.
My PW3 is 5.16.2.1
My K3 is 3.4.3
My DXG is 2.5.8 (though it only gets old mobi downloads)
I thought this was most likely a server issue only affecting some people, and it seems it was. My D&T on newly bought books wasn't affected. Amazon uses very many servers even in one marketplace.
I had noticed that the "Wish List" thing I have with only ebooks in it had gone very slow a few days ago.
Getting people to update is standard CS for almost every big company. Even though it might "break" something (older graphics card and new Driver, MS often breaks things).
Also with Kindle you can't roll back, unlike Kobo or a Graphics card.
