Looking at hotels in Amsterdam in May.

I got a VIP ticket to go see the band Ghost. It starts at 9pm and I'm thinking of booking a hotel instead of trying to get back home on public transport.

I would prefer to get a hotel near the venue. But my word, those hotels are expensive, around €300 a night! Amsterdam's metro runs until 30 minutes past midnight. And if the show starts in time it should be finished between 11 and 11.30pm. Although Ghost doesn't have a reputation for starting late things can happen and being on my own I would not like to have to take a taxi or Uber on my own at that time of night. So I'll probably splurge, since there isn't much price difference between the four nearby hotels I'll go for the one closest to the venue.

One good thing about my ticket is that it's assigned seating, so I don't have to be at the Ziggo Dome ridiculously early to wait in line and get a good spot. I'm too old to do that anymore. I can go to my hotel to check in after 3pm, have dinner somewhere before making my way to the venue.
