One day my Pop (grandfather) and his mate were beach-fishing when further along they noticed a shark flailing about in a shallow gutter just off the shore. They both got around behind it, and at the same time put their arms under it and tossed it out onto the sand. The local radio station has a fishing show on daily, and they rang up to say they'd caught a 6-foot [I can't remember the species] shark off Stockton Beach. The announcer asks what tackle & line did they use, and Pop says "None, we just wrestled it onto the beach". All he got in response was cut-off.

It's one of my oldest memories, of that shark's dried tail and jaws hanging in his back room off the laundry. I'm not sure what happened to them.

Cheers,
Marc
