Blocking Content Library thumbnails
(Note: have searched the forum for relevant advice but no luck)
I have owned several Kindles over the years. I have always been a bit annoyed by the fact that no matter if sync is disabled (two ways I know about) I cannot prevent Kindle from downloading dozens of thumbnails from my Amazon content page (350+). These just add clutter to my library and when dealing with a lot of books - including sideloaded ePub conversions - my Kindle library gets bit more frustrating to manage.
SO, no matter that Sync is off thumbnails are always retained (it seems some level of sync remains active). Similarly if I connect directly to PC with USB and delete the contents via File Explorer the thumbnails reappear!
I have also tried to use the Kindle without registering my Amazon account but that simply degrades overall functionality - e.g.no Wikipedia or translation.
I understand this behaviour from a marketing viewpoint, but it is not all that user friendly ... a bit 'in your face'.
Question:
Is there a technique or setting that I am missing or do I just have to live with this (minor) annoyance?
Thanks for reading - grateful for any advice (including 'just live with it'!)
