You do know that you'd be better off with NickelMenu because when you update to 4.38.23171, KSM will stop working. With NickelMenu, you never have to reinstall it to get access to other reading apps.

One good reason to update the firmware is because there was some firmware versions that you should not be running. I know one of them you would not be installing, but I don't know if the one you have is one of the bad firmware version.

And BTW, coolreader is not all that good. You'd be much better off with KOReader as that is actually supported.
