One suggestion is that you could remove the µSD card from your Glo, mount it on your computer, download the newest firmware, unzip it and copy the upgrade folder, the KoboRoot.tgz and the manifest.md5sum files to the .kobo directory on the µSD card. After installing the card back into your Glo, it should update.
