The high temperature was 38°F with rain and sleet all day. There was a light coating of ice crystals and slush on the car, but the roads were just wet and slick. It never fell below freezing here, and the ground is still too warm -- it was only a couple of weeks ago that we were in the 80s. I suppose there may be some ice on bridges and overpasses, but I'm in for the evening. The overnight temperature is only supposed to fall to 33° so there shouldn't be any large scale icing out there.

Just north of us they got a few inches of snow, and at High Point, NJ, (about 1.5 hours away, to the northwest) they got 20 inches. That would be an unwelcome surprise after our late season summer conditions. On the other hand, we've gone more than a month without any measurable rain and we've started seeing some forest fires, so a good cover of snow is helpful.
