What is most of the time? DNSB posted a case where his were deleted after "several weeks" without a connect.

Besides your wifi soultion, I believe there are several other options to prevent deletion:

Calibre, through the UI
Calibre, modify some .py files

Remove the ASIN number in the metadata (I'm not sure about this one)?
