Calling all Oasis owners: is a firmware downgrade worth it/possible?

So I recently bought a new Oasis (the international version). Coming from a Voyage, am loving the Oasis.

When I first switched it on, it had 4.5 year old firmware version on it (5.12.x). Presumably this version was the version current at the time it was manufactured and packed. I only kept that version for a few days before I succumbed to the temptation of getting "latest and greatest" firmware.

Now, it could be a false memory or such, but I could have sworn the Oasis was faster, and just more snappy in general, with the older version. With the current version (5.17.1) it seems a bit laggy when switching on or when pressing many functionalities in general. I can't say if battery drain was better or not, as I didn't use that older firmware for too long.

My questions are:

1- Is it possible to downgrade the firmware back to 15.12.x (or another version from that era that was stable etc), and if it's possible, how and are there serious risks of bricking?

2- Broadly speaking though, anyone here has experience of downgrading the Oasis firmware and feels it was worth it , and why?

Much appreciated.
