Just to Clarify for you, there is nothing about the Kobo Glo obsolescence that would cause USB interface to stop working. Ergo, the Kobo is probably not in as 'perfect' condition as you believe, (although, as already stated, worth ruling out other sources of the problem, such as Cable or pc it is connecting too.)
