Lots of stores will be having typical holiday sales where all shoppers are welcome. But the vast majority of the sales listed below are only for people who have served or are currently serving in the military. The biggest thing about tomorrow is the free meals offered by numerous restaurants. Click on the links below for participating businesses.

Restaurants across the country have specials for Veterans Day on Monday as a way to honor the sacrifices of veterans and active-duty military personnel.

The federal holiday is held annually on Nov. 11 to mark the end of World War I when the Allies and Germany signed an armistice agreement on Nov. 11, 1918. Fighting ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Most discounts require proof of service, such as a form of veteran, military or military-dependent identification – such as a Veteran ID Card or DD214 card showing your time of service – at the time of purchase. Many offers are limited to dine-in guests as well. Always check with your closest location to confirm participation.

Veterans Day 2024 is Monday, Nov. 11. Many restaurants and businesses offer free meals, deals and other freebies for veterans and military members to show their appreciation to those who served our nation.

As you plan your day, keep in mind that businesses offering free meals or discounts will ask for proof of service. Typically a driver’s license with a veteran designation, military ID, or U.S. Uniform Services Retired ID Card is sufficient.

Please note: Franchises like McDonald’s and Subway offer deals only at participating locations. Individual franchisees may set their own discount policies or choose not to offer any. We recommend calling ahead to confirm availability.
