Just to clarify the method you employed; did you add the additonal lines to:
.../coverimage.koplugin/main.lua
for the boot/power-off logos?

If so, you could try adding these lines immediately before the other added lines:
ffiutil.copyFile(cache_file, "/mnt/ext1//system/resources/Line/taskmgr_lock_background.bmp")
ffiutil.copyFile(cache_file, "/mnt/ext1//system/resources/Line/taskmgr_lock_background_landscape.bmp")

THIS THREAD implies the sleep screen should work on the Era,
