Both the Poke5 and Go6 use a magnetic sensor to sense when the cover is open and closed. You can use a magnet and figure about where the sensor is, but where is it? The SD card socket is mounted on its own little circuit board. It had to be there and it is.

Are you concerned that the last dozen times you changed the SD card you stuck the little poker in the microphone hole instead of the SD card caddy hole? Well, fear not. You did no harm. The microphone itself is perpendicular to the hole. The poker slid right past the microphone.
