That actually 'worked' (but should not be necessary). And I only needed to do this with Kindle connected. Thank you!

I guess this is due to some upgraded Security feature, but Spotlight (or whatever process is responsible) should be releasing file handles after it finishes scanning. An embarrassing regression.

I am running Sequoia public beta on another Mac, will see if it is an issue there, and submit to Feedback if it is.
