It was also great that the old devices had the 3G service.

It also amuses me that I paid $380 for all that in the Oasis, and people complain about the Colorsoft price...

I am skeptical of them being able to adequately solve the Colorsoft screen problem with software. As I think I mentioned earlier, I can see that my Oasis has screen color variations too...you just have to really stare at it to see. The Colorsoft is just more obvious at the bottom, but most don't seem to notice it's over the entire unit...the color is definitely cooler and pinker near the top, and warmer and orange-y near the bottom.

Heck, even computers and phones have slight variations over the entire screen. You just have to put up a white background with nothing on it, and really stare, and you'll see.

Now why is it so noticeable on the Colorsoft and with the new Paperwhites? I assume it has to do with where the lights are placed and how the signal coming out of them changes over distance, and manifests itself as a color difference, as the light travels from one end of the screen to the other.

I'm sure one of my electrical engineer friends could explain it.
