Premise and goals
I dug up my old Kindle and it's running
Version: Kindle 3.3 (611680021) which, if I'm not mistaken, means it's eligible for jailbreaking. But certain options could lead me to update it instead.
What I want out of my e-reader:- Cross-platform syncing (I'm pretty sure there is no jailbreak option for this, and Kindle cloud sync is it)
- Manga and epub compatibility
Thoughts & current knowledge level
I got this in 2012 and have used it sparingly every couple years bc of single device limitation. I really want to be able to pick up where I left off on a book or manga anywhere I am (eg. phone reading on the bus instead of mindless scrolling).
I'm under the impression that if updated to a more modern firmware I'd be able to
sync content (even content I manually uploaded onto the device via Calibre) to other devices I own via Amazon's kindle cloud platform.
However, I'm currently finding it difficult to make manga formatting look good/correct, and have heard ppl describe it being easier when using KOReader on-device. The additional compatibility KOR would bring would also be appreciated for epubs I like the current formatting of.
Question/tl;dr
-Does Kindle cross-platform syncing only work with the newest, untampered firmware + OS updates?
-Is having KOReader on device mutually exclusive with Amazon syncing the Mobi or AZW3 files natively on device?
Thanks!
