Kindle devices have a "system" folder accessible via USB. That folder is hidden on older Kindle devices and visible over MTP on the first edition of the Kindle Scribe. Access to that folder allows the cover thumbnail images shown in the library view to be manipulated.

On the Colorsoft that folder is no longer accessible over MTP, prevent thumbnail changes. I have a concern that this may be the start of a trend for all Kindle devices that use MTP. Making "system" inaccessible would also prevent thumbnail changes on the Scribe, which would be inconvenient for some. But it could also be the beginning of removal of access to other folders.

The ".notebooks" folder holds Scribe notebooks and hand drawn annotations. If Amazon chooses to block access to that folder it will eliminate the possibility of extracting notebooks directly from the device without going through Amazon's server-based mechanism for exporting notebooks.
