Hi everyone, I've been on the ereader subreddits for a while but just discovered this beautiful community.
I guess my first post will be about colour. I voted "I've had a color device but didn't like it", but more accurately it should be "I currently have a colour device, don't like it, looking to go back to B&W".
I have had the Inkpad Color 3. I found the darkness of the screen to be unpleasant at first, but as I mostly read indoors for the greatest part of the year (I live in N. Ireland, not much sun here), I got used to the looks of it when using the frontlight. I never really learned to like it (coming from a 10-year-old Kindle PW where I almost never used the frontlight), but I got used to it. I read a colour book (The Climate Book) and loved how the many graphs it contains come alive on this reader, they are much easier to read and understand in colour.
However, that's the only colour book I've read.
And then I took it with me on holiday to Greece; that was a game changer. The screen is so dark under the bright Mediterranean sunlight. At the beach (my favourite reading location), I just couldn't bear reading on this screen, it's just too dark.
So now, I am looking to go back to B&W and spending lots of time reading/watching reviews to try and decide which way to go. For me, Kaleido is not ready, which is also why I was disappointed when the Kindle Colorsoft came out using the same tech.
