The closest Windows equivalent to .DS_Store is desktop.ini -- IIRC it can specify an icon and a tooltip.
I used to have the calibre icon on my library folders, but I 'lost' the .ico file and didn't bother extracting it from calibre.exe again. Check library flags desktop.ini as an Invalid author
