I have a PW3 with firmware 5.10.3 and have been using the Screensaver hack for a few years.
I often edit my ebooks while reading them, to change styles, etc. And occasionally I have the urge to change the cover too.
But the SS has cached the original version and does not update.
I can do "Clear cover cache", but then it often takes days while I see the "...hasn't successfully processed a book cover" image. I disable, re-enable, restart and eventually it starts working again.
I once tried to just delete the offending image from the cache, but that caused errors so I had to do the full "Clear cache".
Can I make a PNG with the same dimensions and replace it myself? Is there any fingerprinting or does it just use the filename? I am cautious about experimenting since it can be so much hassle to get it working again.
Also, does it purge old covers from the cache after a period of disuse, or do these just accumulate indefinitely?
I think this is not being updated any more, but an option to limit the number of cached images to say the last X books read would be nice for those who are parsimonious about storage being used.
