That sounds weird though.
I can see a few possibilities:
1) You Oasis 3 had aged and its storage died during update.
2) Kindle didn't like some file modifications
3) Update file got corrupted somehow

Thanks for your thoughts.
With any of those possibilities, is there anything I can do? I've had it plugged into the mains since my first post and it still doesn't show fully charged when usually an Oasis would be by now. It was 50-60% when the freeze happened. A lot of suggestions I found online said to leave it charging for 24 hours and they try to force a restart again. So that's next. After that all I can think of is to let the battery discharge and then plug it in again.
When I plug into a PC I get the device detected ding but a drive doesn't show up and there's nothing to eject so I can't use any of the force restart or force reset through PC options.
