And that is why I don't redeem library books through calibre. If my Kobo does not automatically sync the library book—generally when the library has a different edition from Kobo, easy seen when checking the ISBN—I will use the downloaded .acsm file and open it with ADE. I can then transfer the book from ADE to my Kobos without removing DRM.

Sorry but that's my personal quirk about only removing DRM from ebooks that I own.
