This notice is in an ebook purchased from Amazon this week. Following this copyright notice strictly I can not even use it on my kindle.
I own the file not the copyrighted material inside said file. I can do what I will as long as I do not distribute or sell copies of said copyrighted material.
Copyright law--in the USA--allows fair use for more than just book reviews,

Note Amazon claims on the web page when you buy an ebook "You own this" and eventually copyright expires. Also T&C are not always legally enforceable, or economically enforceable.
