Yes, the pulldown displays the three most recently accessed books, regardless of whether you're actually reading them or not. You can even end up with finished books in the list, if you haven't accessed new books since finishing the last one. It has been this way since Kobo introduced the feature in 4.34, so Kobo either doesn't consider this to be a bug or isn't in a rush to improve the feature.
