The old Premium pen costs $59.99 on its own and the new one costs $79.99 - $20 extra. So, after accounting for the new Premium pen the cost of the redesigned Scribe is $10 extra. Not sure where that cost is going but it's not the huge jump I thought it was when I was under the impression that the new 16 GB would still come with the Basic pen.
Indeed. For 1st gen Scribe owners considering upgrading, it would have been nice to have the option of just using the pen we already had. This makes it even less likely I will consider upgrading. The only thing that would have really swayed me if if it were lighter, but from the specs, it weighs about the same.
