Yes, for a Kobo ereader, they do a sector duplicate of the input card which includes the boot information, the 2 Ext4 Linux partitions and the FAT32 partition (that's the one that is exposed over the USB connection). To create the image, you
must mount the µcard external to the Kobo so you can see the entire card. I use an USB3 µSD card adapter plugged into my computer for this since it is a lot faster than plugging the µcard into a full SD card adapter and using my computer's builtin USB2 adapter.
