This sort of thing is more for people that have electronics / embedded computing / tinkering as a hobby (or day job) than wanting to read ebooks, where a Kobo is the best standalone solution.


I've had two Pis and multiple embedded / SBC / dev / handheld computers as the day job and hobby, so forget about the Pi or anything similar if you want to read ebooks. It won't save money either. Actually my current Pi system cost more than my last laptop or TCL Nxtpaper 11. It's only cheaper than a Kobo Sage because it's got a portable QHD LCD screen, not an 8" eink panel. Most of the Pi or Ardunio eink "hats" are retail display panels thus much worse than a PW3 or original H2O.
