What If? is an old series concept at Marvel. Basically, they speculate on how things would have progressed if something changed (such as "
What if Spider-man joined the Fantastic Four?"
They also had a special named
What the? where they posit funny ideas. One of them was "What if all of the members of the Avengers remained Avengers? (there were so many members that they couldn't function effectively because they got in each others way). Another one was "What if Wonder Man was a woman?" (it showed a warning letter from their Distinguished Competition).
