This is my last upload on MR. (I've said it before, but I had still some unfinished stuff laying around).
This is really not the place to be for me. And it has become only too obvious that some of you don't like me to be here either (yes, I have been warned twice by some of you for (well, let's say it nicely) 'loud voices' here) . This site is apparently meant to be a site for people who want to digitalize old books in Epub form. That's really fine by me, but this is nót my way of thinking. Digitalizing stuff in a form and look which were meant to be for people who lived a century (or more) ago is not very...., well, fill in whatever you want.

But one should not digitalize old books, but old texts! I personally think that one should take out the content of such an old book and (try to) make this content as easy as possible to read for Readers in 2024 .

Yes, Readers with a capital! Because it is not about gathering a lot of epubs, is it? It's about really reading stuff. 'An unread book is only paper'; in accordance to that we can add today: 'an unread epub is only a bunch of bytes'. In both cases: worthless 'possessions'.

Real possession of what is written takes place between the ears. The 'way to that destination' should be made as easy and as pleasant and as attractive as possible for today's Readers. Well, as written above: this is my opinion. Which opinion some people here (certainly not all!) apparently don't appreciate, fixated as they are on digitalizing old books instead of modernizing old texts.

But one should work for Readers, not for gatherers! Readers are certainly not interested in defacements of a text such as the name of or a digital stamp from an epubmaker, links which lead to a place outside the epub , outdated footnotes from a century ago, references to a former 'paper life' of a text, and so on, and so on. Yes, collectors might appreciate all these things. But for a Reader the only thing that really matters is a text which is pleasant to read.

Feel free to critize what is written here. But do so for others to read. I'm leaving and will not read any comments (or mails) anymore.

Good luck to you all.
