Lets say you are not at home (on vacation) and don't have access to a computer. You get a notice that an eBook from Overdrive is ready. So you connect to your phone to download it and get hit with a new firmware. Being that you are not home, you can no longer run KOReader until you get home. If you do it the NickelMenu way, the firmware update won't lock you out of KOReader until you get home.
