In July E Ink posted the press release with the title
"E Ink and Himax Unveil Advanced Color ePaper Timing Controller ASIC T2000". It specifically says:

In addition to delivering high-quality image colors, the T2000 processes color rendering more than ten times faster compared to the previous generation.

Of course, it doesn't mean that the page refresh time will be 10 times better, but the processing part will improve — so only future devices will tell the difference.
It seems unlikely that Remarkable had time to use this controller, but this gives us some hope to see better Gallery 3 based devices.
