Our sale was likely larger (held in a community center gym) with ~60 vendors. The problem as you noted was that it was indeed a lot of work and the rewards were minimal. 95% of the attendees were good people but the 5% were total PITAs. Not just the attendees, some of the vendors brought tables of stuff that looked like it had been tossed out on the side of the road, much of which they left behind after the sale was over so we ended up paying for a dumpster to haul the crap away.
