I had installed the 7.16.100 MSI and the source code downloaded from the calibre site at 21:45 PDT on 2024-Aug-15 with calibre not running so as close a match as I could get. I did not see the issue until this morning. Once I saw the issue, it survived a calibre restart. It wasn't until I disabled run from source and ran the binary, this issue cleared up. When I switched back to running from source, the problem did not show up. OTOH, it took over a day for the problem to show up the first time so I'm not going to write it off for a few more days.
