Possibly you ran the 7.16.100 binary with pre-7.16.100 source? Or the opposite, 7.16.100 source with a previous binary? I have found that from time to time running from source doesn't work because the source requires a change in some embedded software like Qt, python, or one of the C libraries used to interface to the OS. These are included in the binary. There have been times where Kovid was kind enough to build a beta binary so I could continue running from the latest source.
It is a good idea to install the latest binary if you are running a later source.
