This combines well with Reading List because RL can "clean up" the tags on connect, dealing with books deleted directly on the device. No need for Smart Eject unless you want something it does such as the Eject toolbutton. NB: you can create a keyboard shortcut for Eject with Action Chains.

That works!
I'd thought to use Reading List's Sync Now with Action Chains, but reportedly that doesn't work consistently.
SmartEject with the modification for running Sync Now before ejecting also works and lets you do it with one click (or keyboard shortcut).
