The most absurd thing I think is that this "war" is ultimately waged against their own customers who want to back up their books or use them in different readers.
There is in fact no reason to believe that this drm will reduce piracy in any way.
Personally speaking for example, since the promotion I had with my bank (which discounted 3% of Amazon gift cards) is over, I will simply switch to buying on Kobo (while without this new drm I would have continued to buy on Amazon since I use the Kindle PC reader and so I have to go through an extra step of sending my drm-free (or drm removed) epub here https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle , too bad all mangas/comics that I actually want to buy are never drm-free... I would love to support drm-free like I do for videogames).

I still hope someone works on it in the future (unfortunately I am not able to do that, I don't have the technical knowledge to do it), the more options there are to remove the DRM the better (there is still a chance adobe will see that kfx from amazon is again stronger and decide to enforce a stronger version too, of course everybody hope they will not since most books still use the old ADE 2.0 and even the last 4.5 is working right now).
The most absurd thing is that even the strongest DRM in the world cannot stop a manual copy or, for manga/comics, simple screenshots, and that's why even books released only in paperback have pirated copies in pdf/epub... They're just going to bother their own customers.

Anyway, thanks to everyone, especially lkmiller, for clarifying the technical side of the matter. Let's hope for the best.
