I'm not even taking sides. Third-party active Antivirus is unnecessary on Windows altogether. Defender suffices (and even it overreaches at times). The notion that an extra third-party Antivirus package (that actively monitors the system) is still needed (especially from Windows 10 on) is one of the largest scams perpetrated on Windows users. They break more than they'll ever prevent.
In truth, I've never even had a hint of virus while using nothing but Defender since late Windows 7. But then again... I'm not really one of those people who falls for the notion that I could get out of a child pornography charge my merely giving the FBI my credit card number.
