That's a long way of saying "yeah, I'll just remove the DRM", but I still have to get the book, buy it from a different amazon store with a different amazon account and then successfully remove the DRM and get it onto my Kindle.

Kindle for Windows 1.17.1 won't download any books published after January 2023. I think you had better read this thread:
