I'm using Windows 11 for my calibre libraries. When the Restore recently deleted was first added, I copied 2500 ebooks to a new library and then deleted all but one of them. Recovering the deleted books from the .caltrash folder took about 3 minutes (Remove books => Restore recently deleted => select all books on the Books tab => Restore selected. Beat the heck of out of copying files from the Recycle Bin to a desktop folder, adding books from there and then redoing the metadata.
