I'm not one of the few that bother. So far in my Kobo ownership, the only thing I've cared about is formatting and it's easier for me to notice issues on device.
"I don't bookmark, highlight or annotate, and I'm fine with finding my reading position manually." Me too.
Uncheck it is.
