There are a couple work arounds that have been added to FanFicFare, but they require more effort:

I did check and I was able to download that story using Browser Cache feature after caching all the chapters.

I didn't know about the Proxy option before, but I have been using the Cache trick since FFN started being a *bleep* about downloading. For whatever reason it just doesn't work for this one story thru Opera (and yet works for Firefox). I was just wondering if it was something on my end or something about that particular story. Seems it must be something on my end. I'll keep jumping hoops then.
