I think you are making this too difficult on yourself. If calibre is able to open the book and doesn't throw a DRM message, it is already DRM-free and shouldn't need to be downloaded again.

If you are using the NoDRM plug-in for calibre, removing the DRM and adding the books to calibre should be the same action.

As for moving the books, I keep my calibre library on an external hard drive. I like the Western Digital My Passport drives. Makes it easy to move from PC to PC.
