I'd frankly expect occasional pink and green shades, because the display includes a diffraction grating, and that's what *happens* when light is diffracted. It's astonishing the whole screen isn't constantly rippling with pink and green, really: I have no idea how they do it. Amazing engineering.
The only failure-with-time I have observed is a slowly increasing number of pixels frozen forever at black or white. Even on many-year-old Kindles this is barely perceptible (to me at least) unless the Kindle is somehow damaged.
