It's probably an incremental patch on boot.
If it went through correctly you might just be able to pull the patched boot off your device.
Is this thing a QCS2290 (SCUBAPIIOT)?
Did you get EDL working on it?
Did the latest patch screw up the bootloader (fastboot)?
