Which firmware are you running? The higher firmware versions support cover mode directly and you may not be able to use the screensaver add-on.

If you have ads that is also a problem, as the screensaver add-on will NOT operate if you have "special offers" enabled on your Kindle. If that is the case you will need to contact Amazon about disabling the "special offers", which they might charge you to do but in some cases will not.
