I use a Mac and it is a pretty vanilla install so there really shouldn't be anything funky going on. I have not changed the computer I am using in years and I have not changed anything except routine Calibre/OS updates when available. I have never had this issue in the past.
I would say it has been several months since I worked on my collection and I did grab the latest Calibre when I fired it up.
