If you use FreeFileSync's Mirror option on a calibre library folder, it will copy the entire library the first time it is used, but subsequent uses will only action additions, changes, and deletions since last use.

The advantage of using a sync tool (there are dozens of them) such as FFS is that they can work with most storage targets - cloud services, external drives, local file servers, NASes… FTP servers even. Some can be used to backup Android & IOS devices.
