I know this might sound like an odd thing to say, but I've been using older eReaders lately and the "greyer" background doesn't seem a whole lot different than the effect you get from the warm light in the newer eReaders. Maybe my eyes are just odd. (Plus I've been using the amber light on the Glocusent on the non front-lit readers and I'm finding I like the light off the screen a little further.)

Makes me wonder how much more advanced black and white screens need to get.
