I've just taken delivery of a new-to-me Kobo Clara HD and having a good time exploring it. I've used your "one-clcik" to install KFMon, KOreader, Plato and other good things , got wifi working (seems to be conflicted if it tries to talk to a b/g/n radio, but b/g is fine). Now I want to ssh into it so that I can look at its innards and maybe tweak it a bit. After I found the Kobo's ip I tried sshing into port 22 and got nothing. So I'm trying to load this package of tools.
The file that downloads is kobo-stuff-1.6.N-r18901.tar.xz . I used 7-zip (yes, on a win-10 PC) to make a .tar file and sideloaded it to the .kobo directory. It didn't work as expected: ejecting and disconnecting the Kobo did nothing -- the file remained in the .kobo directory unchanged. Just to be sure I tried the .tar.gz file -- nothing there either.
Looking back at the instructions, it seems it should be a .tgz file. Is this correct? I can probably figure out how to untar then tgz the file if I have to, but should this be necessary? Or am I missing something or (perhaps) were the utilities installed along with the one-click software and I just don't know how to use them?
I'd appreciate some help with my ignorance and some guidance toward success.
