I am having this issue. It's irritating, specially when it messes up the letter spacing. Not all fonts seem affected, though.

It's any way to solve this, besides don't use it? In Spanish ligatures are very infrequent, son I don't mind losing them. Also, not all fonts have them.

Could this be the reason to no be enabled by default?
